*Recipe* Ramen Dump Salad

Another recipe from my darling Chrissy, well sort of, my mom has been making it for years but I never actually got the recipe.  If you haven't ever tried this, you might be thinking "really?"  but seriously, it is delicious!

Ingredients

-3- 3 oz packs of chicken flavored Ramen style noodles
-1- 12 oz bag of broccoli slaw
-1 thinly sliced red onion
-1 cup frozen peas
-3/4 cup canned (the best) or frozen corn kernels
-1/2 cup sugar
-1/2 cup vegetable oil
-1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
-1 cup roasted, salted sunflower seeds

Directions

-Set the Ramen flavoring packs aside and crush the Ramen, not too big, not too small.

-Put into a salad bowl and add the slaw, onion, peas and corn and toss.

-In a microwave safe bowl, combine the sugar, vegetable oil, apple cider vinegar and ramen packs and microwave on high for 1 minute.
-Pour the hot mixture over the salad mixture and toss.

-Refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.
-Toss in the sunflowers just before serving.

Mom's Birthday Tour and Stuff

For Mom's actual birthday, we had supper and cake with the family, but on the Saturday after her birthday, the four of us went for a drive toward Saskatoon to a few cool places.  We had to stop near Rosetown for me to get some pictures of a beautiful Flax field.

We arrived at Solar Garden's south of Saskatoon just in time for lunch.  We took a little walk around the grounds and I was in heaven.  Everyone knows how much I love succulents and there were thousands at this place as well as hundreds of gorgeous arrangements.

And these two cutie black labs.

Inside the restaurant part is filled with a really cool mix of many styles of antiques.

We ordered lunch and a couple drinks and waited quite a while, but it was totally worth it.   Poutine made with deliciously cooked chunks of potatoes.

Spring rolls.

I got the gazpacho and goat cheese and roasted beet salad.  the best of both that I have ever had.

Everybody else got these delicious homemade pizzas with really neat flavors.  Mom's was a Big Mac pizza!

After we were totally stuffed. we went out to the Olive Oil and vinegar Tasting room for more unneeded food, but I'm a sucker for olive oil and vinegars.  I found a few great ones to bring home.

We found what is probably the most difficult mini golf course I have ever played.  It also had this view beside it which made it better.  Jesse destroyed all of us as well.

Next up was the Berry Barn which I haven't been to in years.  It is one of the most famous places in the Saskatoon area because of it's beautiful location right on the river and it's delicious food.

I got the Berried Treasure, a crisp made with Saskatoons, Blueberries and Raspeberries that was unbelievable.  Jim got the Saskatoon Berry Pie which you can never go wrong with.

Another gorgeous Canola field.

We made a quick pitstop at Dakota Dunes Casino to use our free plays and get some Tim Hortons.  Yes there is a Tim's right inside the casino now!

Our last stop on the way home was White Bear for some wings that I have raved about many times on this blog!

We had such a great family day with some delicious food and fun times on our little tour.  Happy birthday Mom!
