Fab Friday Faves 4.21.17

Happy Friday from sunny Florida! I've spent the last few days mostly doing yard work and then enjoying the yard, namely the pool.  The weather has been perfect, it is that short window between too chilly to use the pool and wear skimpy clothes, and bursting into flames when you walk out the door.  I'm going to keep this short, I have a massage this morning then am heading to the beach.  Terrible day right?  Enjoy your weekend, and I hope everyone has something planned for Earth Day!

I went for a walk at John Chestnut Sr. Park yesterday and saw a gator family (baby in bottom corner was about a foot long) so cute!  As well as a bunch of other wildlife.  Love this park!

Throwback to Easter weekend.  I harassed Smudge, colored eggs and got some pretty flowers from Josh, who was in Maine.

I have to include April and her baby in my list, since I have checked in and sometime obsessively watched her, everyday, for well over two months now.  Congrats to April and Oliver and the zoo family, he is the cutest ever!

I finally got my hair did.... its only been since shortly after Christmas that I had it done!  It's always nice to have it freshened up.

Like I said, my few days here have consisted mostly of yard work, but reading in the pool breaks are a necessity.  There is nothing more relaxing.

Happy Easter!  It's Good Friday, and even though it isn't really celebrated in the US, it still feels like Easter to me.  I am spending the Easter weekend alone this year, which makes me sad, but it is what is, I'll make the best of it.  Josh went to Maine for Grammy's funeral, Dave and Lindsey are moving tomorrow and Nicole and Jason are going home for the weekend.  But, I do get to go home to Florida for a week on Monday! So that is exciting.  It hasn't been that long but it feels like forever because I have spent so much time their lately.  I have spent the week packing in as much time with Lindsey and the kids as possible as well as preparing for Nicole's baby shower and getting ready to move.  Josh and I had a great weekend, at the Laurel Racetrack for a wine festival and some horse racing, then to a BBQ we were invited to and Sunday we went out to Fort Washington to explore there.  Everyone have a safe and happy Easter weekend, I'm headed out for tea with Nicole before they leave.  See you next week from Florida!

1. Like I mentioned, on Saturday, Josh and I went to Decanter Wine and Racing Festival in Laurel, MD.  There were over 20 wineries, so we tried some great wine and we watched and bet on some horse races.  It was a great afternoon and an excuse to finally get dressed up!

 2. I spent a lot of time with Lindsey and the kids before they move, playing at some parks and looking for shells and fossils at the beach.  I will miss them all!

3.  I got a few new cute spring shirts, here are my favorites.  The first two are from Francescas (I'm obsessed with lemon print right now) and the bottom one is from the Lauren Conrad collection at Kohl's and has a really cute open, flowing back.

4. I was out for a walk in the park behind the apartment the other day and saw this Eastern Snapping Turtle near the road.  I have encountered these turtles before, and they are really cool but also really mean.  I tried to herd her toward the swamp but she was having none of it.  I saw a man rescue a massive one off the road, also near here the other day.  He was prepared with a large crate to get it into to take it back to the pond.  Apparently they are coming out of hibernation and looking for mates and nice spots to make nests right now.

5.  Smudge decided it was time to put her Easter bib on yesterday.  How cute is she?

*Recipe* Easter Crack- White Chocolate Toffee

Happy Easter everyone! Every now and then, one of those recipes comes along that is a game changer.  I made this Easter crack, and got it has taken every ounce of my willpower not to eat the entire tray.  Luckily I have Josh, who is completely addicted, pregnant Nicole, also addicted and several children to pawn it off on.   But man, this stuff is deadly.  It is really perfect for any occasion, with different colors of garnishes, or different chocolate, but it is so cute for Easter!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 stack saltine crackers
  • 1lb bag white chocolate chips (or any equivalent of white chocolate, or white almond bark etc)
  • Easter sprinkles, mini eggs, m&ms or other topping of your choice

Directions

Melt Butter and brown sugar, over medium heat.

Bring to a boil and stir while boiling for 5 minutes.
Line a cookie sheet with tinfoil and place crackers evenly on it.
Pour sugar mixture evenly over the crackers.

Bake at 325 degrees for about 8 minutes.
While crackers are baking, melt chocolate chips in microwave using package directions.
Pour white chocolate over crackers and spread evenly.
Top with sprinkles etc and allow to cool completely (I put mine in the fridge) and break into smaller pieces.

I store mine in the fridge because it melts really easily.

Fab Friday Faves 4.7.17

Happy Friday everyone!  The week has flown by, and, as usual I'm not sure why.  We had a busy weekend with a going away party at Dave and Lindsey's (yes, they are leaving me!) and then some sightseeing on Sunday.  The week has also been busy and a bit stressful with just a lot on our plate.  We found out we have to change apartments so I have been dealing with that (worst customer service from the St. Charles Apartments EVER).  I'm planning a baby shower, and also planning a trip back to the house before we have to move at the end of April.  We found out Wednesday that Josh's Grammy back home in Maine passed away as well.  Thoughts and prayers to all of her family.  Today we are helping another friend that Josh has been on the road with his entire career, Goodwin, move.  He's going back to Maine to be with his family and will be greatly missed!  On Saturday we have the Maryland Decanter Wine and Racing Festival.  A horse race/ wine tasting that we are getting all dressed up for and I am really excited for!  Alright, have a great weekend folks, and the see you on Good Friday!  Yay Easter!

1. I ordered these Meowmie and Me matching bow tie and hair tie from Black Cat Stitches, one of my favorite Instagram shops for pet accessories.  How cute are we?

2. On Saturday there was an event called Lattes With Lambs at National Colonial Farm.  It literally was lattes with lambs, and cows, and chickens and turkeys etc.  We went with Lindsey and Dave and the kids and made butter, watched a lamb get knighted and ate some donuts.  Super fun family event!

3.  On sunday there was a car show behind my favorite coffee shop, Cool Beanz.  Cool Beanz happened to be having a VIP 20% off day so we had to go check out the car show and get cheap coffee.  We were really impressed with the car show, we had no idea there were so many cool vehicles in Southern Maryland.

4.  My parents sent Josh and I these flowers yesterday after Josh's Grammy passed away.  Although they are for a sad reason, they are beautiful and springy.

5. We had thunderstorms all day yesterday, and near sunset we had a couple beautiful rainbows pop up to signal the end of the storms.
