Fab Friday Faves 2.22.19

Hello all, and happy Friday from insane, record breaking heat, Florida. Seriously, it's so hot here right now.  Not much to report this week, I've mostly just been doing yard work and running and enjoying this heat wave, although it is Florida, it could be like this for the next 9 months. This weekend we are going down to Punta Gorda to visit some family and explore that area some more. Everyone have a great weekend, and see you next week!

First thing up on the list is the Etsy shop that I started this week.  Right now I am just selling bulk shells, hopefully eventually I will get some crafts on there too.  If you need any shells for crafts, decorations or just to display, I'm your woman. And yes I will ship to Canada.

Thursday was National Love Your Pet Day and how could you not love these three faces?

I went out shelling a couple days this week, it was low tide first thing in the morning, not only did I get an epic sunrise and a great shell haul but I found my first Florida shark tooth!

On Saturday, we went to Crooked Thumb Brewing in Safety Harbor, for their limited Girl Scout Cookie Beer release.  Their Girl Scout beers were all delicious (especially the Lemon Vanilla Gold Ale that tastes just like a Savannah Smile!) And there were actual Girl Scouts there selling cookies.... smart, catch the drunk people.

How cute are these little plant stakes from the Target Dollar Spot?

I finally bought myself a cute tea box.  This has been on my "list" for a few years, and I saw this one on Zulily and thought I may as well just get it.  And I love it!

Fab Friday Faves 2.15.19

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day filled with romance and love (or nothing if you don't celebrate it).  It has been a busy week, which I don't usually say because we never go out in the week, but we actually did stuff! We are going to take it a little easier this weekend; do some yard work, hang out with Smudge and the bunnies etc.  Anyway, here is a recap from the week.

A couple weeks ago Josh came home and said a vendor want to take us to a hockey game.  Turns out, it was he Lightning vs. Flames game that I had been bugging Josh for months to take me to.  We got Chase clubs seats, with more free food and drink than I have ever seen before.  Nacho bar, salad bar, sundae bar, raw and sushi bar, chicken wing bar... the list goes on.  The seats were awesome too, sadly the Flames played terribly and lost. Oh, and yes, that is former Blue Jay, Jose Batista that I walked by 5 times and finally snapped a long distance picture of.  He was enjoying the free food as well.

Obviously, Tuesday was Valentine's Day and we went to Packard's Steakhouse at Innisbrook (the PGA course by our house) and it was so good.  We both got their Valentine menu with soup and salad, surf and turf and a delicious dessert and chocolate covered strawberries to take home.  I also got a heater so I can have a warm bathroom to take my baths in!

Saturday was the Rays Fanfest at the Trop.  We got to meet some players, tour the dugout and clubhouse and all last years merchandise was $5 so we loaded up on shirts and hats. It was a really cool event with lots of games and music and beer.

This morning I went for a walk, to to the Great Backyard bird Count, and I really lucked out.  I saw a ton of birds and also came across a couple of my rare favorites, the Roseate Spoonbill.  they were in a swamp with some Ibis so I couldn't get close enough to get very good pictures but it was super exciting to see them, and I didn't get eaten by and gators or snakes so thats a bonus.

I also went out to John Chesnut Park for a walk and as always, saw all the wildlife.  A Limpkin doing yoga, mama gator (she's hardly ever out), some tiny baby gators and a Guilline bird (I'm fascinated with these birds and the crazy noises they make).

*Recipe* Keto Big Mac in a Bowl

I had been craving a Big Mac so bad, for like a month, it killed me to drive by any of the 23 McDonalds near my house.  I even got Josh craving one as well.  We go to McDonalds maybe twice a year, once for breakfast and once for a Shamrock Shake.  So, I figured it can't be that hard to make something Big Mac adjacent right? Well, I was right.  I was quite shocked at how great this turned out, especially considering it contains cabbage.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb  ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onion (I added some raw onion as well on my bowl before serving)
  • 2 cups thinly shredded lettuce
  • 6 cups shredded cabbage
  • 20 hamburger pickle chips
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Special Sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 4 tbsp dill pickle relish
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
  • In a skillet over medium high heat, brown the ground beef.  When almost cooked through, add the onion and com until beef is cooked and onion is translucent. Drain the grease, salt and pepper to taste and set aside.

  • While beef and onions are cooking, add all ingredients for special sauce into a bowl and combine.

  • In skillet, add some olive oil and the shredded cabbage.  Saute until the cabbage is slightly softened, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Divide the cabbage between 4 bowls and top each with round beef.

  • Sprinkle with shredded cheese, lettuce (raw onion if desired) and pickle chips (you can add more of whatever if you want).
  • Drizzle special sauce over big Mac bowl and enjoy!

Fab Friday Faves 2.1.19

Happy Friday all! I'm back finally for a real FFF.  Since I've had a slow few weeks, I've included some faves from a couple weeks now.  Also, hello February (how is this possible?).  As you can see hove, today is Wear Red Day, a campaign to bring attention to the importance of women learning about the signs and symptoms of heart disease and heart attacks.  Heart related issues are responsible for 1 in 3 women deaths every year, which is insane.  This is a cause near to my heart, and also one that I need to practice what I preach seeing as I do have several of the risk factors.  It is one more of those "pay attention to your body and don't be afraid to get it checked" situations for every man and woman out there.  Check out Go Red For Women for more info.

February 1st is also close to my heart because it is my baby brother, Jesse's birthday!  He turned 20 today, and it always amazes me that he has grown into such an awesome man.  Happy birthday! (picture from his 16th birthday party)

On Wednesday I got some awesome Groupon Microdermabrasion, from Cyn's Skin Care in Westchase.  I know I don't have terrible skin, but you would be amazed what a little microdermabrasion and tightening laser treatment can do!

Monday was nail day, and I got my Valentine's nails!  I think Valentine's is my favorite "nail holiday" because I love red and white.  So cute.

Thursday I went for my yearly visit to the Apollo Beach Manatee viewing Center at Big Bend Power Station.  Every winter the Manatees and many other marine life, come into the cove where the power plant emits warm water to survive the cold temperatures. There are always hundreds of manatees, Rays, fish, sharks, birds etc and it is quite the amazing sight to see.

I won a contest from Numi Tea and got this "sample pack" in the mail yesterday.  I am pretty impressed and can't wait to try them all! I also got a pair of custom VR goggles to watch a video about how tho sustainable tea is sourced and the people that pick it and process it.  Very cool.

Wel these are pretty much self explanatory.  I don't love Oreos in general but these are probably the best ones ever made.

We had a great new little sandwich shop open up about a 2 minute drive from us this week, so I had to go try it.  I was their very first customer and got this Club Sub to try.  It was delicious.  Rocky Mountain Subs specializes in Philly Cheese Steaks and also have a french dip that looks amazing.  Oh and homemade salads and desserts.
