Feliz Año Nuevo!

Good morning friends!  I hope everyone had an amazing New Year's Eve and are feeling okay today.  I am just tired since I stay up passed midnight maybe 3 times a year now.  But I will survive.  I was just sitting here thinking about New Years Resolutions.  I don't personally make them, because i feel if I want to make a change in my life, there is no better time than the present to make that change.  I also think there is so much hype about NY resolutions that most people are setting themselves up to fail.
Do you make them?  If so what were they?  I guess if I had to make one I would say start a healthier lifestyle again.  I feel like I have done that, and I am healthier in terms of eating and exercise than most people I know, but the scale keeps creeping up and it is driving me nuts.  So I guess I will just try harder!

Last night, I headed out with my friend Jules, her son Abe and my friend Sandra, who works at the vet that I take Smudge to.  Jules had booked us a table for a set dinner and champagne at the Maras Restaurant in the Westin hotel in San Isidro, which is the next district over.  It is a gorgeous hotel, and the restaurant was fabulous.  And, since we were there to eat so early (8:30 pm is too early for people here!) we had the place almost to ourselves.  I of course took pictures of all of the courses, as they were very beautiful works of art and managed to get a copy of the menu, in English so I can even tell you what everything is!

Potato Cappuccino and Maje shrimp with truffle (in the cup)
Ñuro tuna fish and premium salmon in Creole style shoyu sauce (on the small plate)
Jungle banana cracker with Pachacamac foie gras mincuit, lavender jelly and raspberry roe (the small square with the flower on it)

Bijao shrimp, Pataraschca style with sachaculantro and sweet chili flavors

Cat Fish covered with Kurobuta pork belly, cocona and chonta of Tarapoto

Black cod from Pisco skewer flavors and mashed lima beans

Veal cheek, cooked for 50 hours with loche pumpkin risotto, roasted bell pepper, Maras salt and Mosto Verde foie gras.

Nitro custard Apple and Raspberry chilcano

We continued the evening with some champagne, and Abe left to go meet some friends.  We had heard that their may be something going on, on the 3rd floor of the hotel at a club and we managed to talk our way in (thanks to Sandra for the Spanish).  We did a little dancing, met a lovely couple from Malaysia that had just gotten engaged and enjoyed a couple very overpriced drinks.  We headed home when the party was just getting started, but it was plenty for us!  I know I can only listen to reggaeton and salsa music with the exact same beat for so long!  Here are a few pictures from the night.

Everyone enjoy your day, and I'll be back Friday with my Fab Faves!  That reminds me, I better go on the hunt for some faves....
