Fab Friday Faves 8.14.15

Good morning all!  After an almost two month break (how could it possibly have been that long?!) I'm back.  My summer hasn't been my best ever, but I got to do some relaxing and enjoying home in Saskatchewan which was nice.  More on that next week.  Last week we had to say goodbye to my fur baby Jinx, which was one of the hardest things I have ever had to go through.  I don't think people get that for some people, pets are their babies.  I have spent 9 years and with him and the last 2.5 having to give him constant daily care for renal failure and it inevitably was time to say goodbye for now and  end the pain that he fought so strong through.
Anyway, I have been able to drag myself out of bed this week and do some fun things to get my mind off things so here they are, my first Friday Five since June.  Oh and last week was my 2 year blogging anniversary! Happy Anniversary to me!

1. I had every intention of waiting until fall to get my hair chopped, since I sweat so much that I almost have to be able to put it up in a pony tail.  BUT, I figured a change would give me a bit of a pick me up so I booked an appt for Wednesday and got at least 2 inches cut off and new blonde and I absolutely love it!  It did make me feel better and it was nice to get out and get a bit pampered.

2. Josh and I went over to one of our favorite restaurants on Sunday, Left Bank Burger Bar in Jersey City.  They have the best burgers ever and feature a weekly Burger Battle.  I got the Fowl Play and Josh got the Bun B.   We both thought the Fowl Play won and was one of the best burgers I have ever eaten.

3. On Sunday, Josh and I went to the final game in The Yankees vs. Blue Jays series.  We are Yankees fans, but I of course have a soft spot for the Jays so even though the Yankees lost, it was a good game.  I think that Josh may never let me go to another Yankees game because in all the games we have went to I have never seen the Yankees win!

4. My first trip to the grocery store back from SK meant a couple new discoveries I was pretty excited about... V8 came out with a Sea Salt and Clam drink, which I didn't try because I already had a cart full to manhandle the 3/4 of a mile home.  But Canadians will understand how excited I am to try  this!  The other was these fried crumbled pickles.  Very much like the crispy onions that you but on green bean casserole but SOOO delicious and pickle-y.  I did buy these!

5. After a few months of hearing rave reviews, and walking by it several times, I finally got Josh to go to MilkSugarLove with me.  It is just down the street and has been named some of the best ice cream in New York... but its not even in New York.  They have a wide array of specialty flavors, ice cream sandwiches, cakes and sundaes that are pretty much customizable to whatever you want.  Josh got the Blueberry Cream and Butter Cream and I got the Stumptown Coffee (Stumptown is a famous NYC coffee shop) and The Earl Grey Cream.  So good!  Will be going back soon!

  2. Go Jays! I'm a Toronto girl, so a bit bias. I love the feeling in the city when the Yankees come to town. Really wishing I was at tonight's game but they've been selling out lately.
