Fab Friday Faves 1.8.16

Happy Friday and a very happy New Year! I skipped out last week because, I just didn't feel like blogging, and my family went home that day so I was tired and pouty.  It has been a crazy few weeks.  We had a great Christmas and great visit with my family.  The house is really coming together, I am just still looking for a few pieces and of course artwork that will take some time to collect.

I also have to ask for thoughts and prayers for an old friend of mine from residence in university in Saskatoon, and her family.  This last weekend, her, her husband and two babies were killed by a drunk driver just outside of Saskatoon.  A horrible and avoidable tragedy that has broken the hearts of everyone that knew them and everyone in Saskatchewan.

Here are my Friday Faves from the last couple weeks, so enjoy!

1. On New Years Eve the five of us went down to St. Pete for their First Friday and NYE party.  We a awesome dinner and then partook in a few of the MANY festivities in the downtown area.  We also took a family selfie with our awesome, free, light up glasses.  We were home by about 9:30pm because we had to be up crazy early but we still and a great time.

2. For Christmas I got Jesse an official Gold Rush Gold Panning Kit with actual Paydirt from the Klondike.  Jesse wanted to wait until Josh got back, so we waited until he got home to give it a try.  We didn't know what to expect or if we would get anything, but we had fun panning and even ended up with about 5 decent gold flakes which is more than what the kit said we were guaranteed so we were happy!

3.  When we first got to Florida, Josh went out and bought a smoker.  We finally had a chance to use it and fired it up with other night.  He smoked a rack of ribs and some chicken legs.  They all turned out awesome and were so delicious.

I have to put my favorite new coffee place on the list, 9th Bar Coffee and Co. in Dunedin.  It is a small locally owned shop and has unbelievable coffee and  super cute decor.  The Iced Muddy Thai and Angel Kiss Latte and also to die for.

5. After a long day of antiquing, we stopped in at Stilt House Brewery in Palm Harbor.  We hadn't been here before so we weren't sure what to expect but we were super impressed with the number of craft beers they had on tap that they might right on site.  I have mentioned before, I don't love beer and don't drink it that often but this place had some of the best fruity beers I have ever had.  Their seasonal Cranberry Chutney beer made with Cranberries and a hint of Serano peppers is one of the best beers I have ever had.  They also have a peach beer, and apricot, a really natural tasting pumpkin beer and an awesome homemade cream soda.  The server we had, Leigh, was also one of the best bartenders i have had in recent memory.  if you are in the Palm Harbor area stop in and give it a try!

  1. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, what a horrible way to start the year.

It looks like the rest of your week was pretty good, but that's a horrible tragedy to welcome the year in with.
